Who we are
Nangamso Mentjies Incorporated ("we") is a firm of attorneys at Suite S302 & 303, JSL Towers, 259 Pretorius Street, Pretoria Central, 0001. We are the responsible party for the personal information described in this notice, under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

What we collect
- Enquiries: the name, phone number, email address, type of matter and message you send through our contact form, by email, by phone or on WhatsApp.
- Clients: the information needed to act for you, such as identity documents, contact details, and records about your matter, which may include health, financial or criminal information.
- Website use: this website does not use analytics or advertising cookies. Your browser sends your IP address to the services that deliver our fonts and map (see below).
Why we use it
- To reply to your enquiry and arrange a consultation.
- To give legal advice and act for you, if you instruct us.
- To meet our legal duties, including those under the Legal Practice Act and the Financial Intelligence Centre Act.
We process enquiry information with your consent, which you give when you send the contact form. We process client information because it is needed to act on your instructions and to meet our legal obligations.
Special personal information
Road Accident Fund, medical negligence and criminal matters often involve health information or information about alleged offences. POPIA treats this as special personal information. We only process it where it is necessary to establish, exercise or defend a legal right or obligation, and we keep it confidential.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information. We share it only where your matter or the law requires, for example with the courts, the Road Accident Fund, advocates, medical and other experts, and correspondent attorneys. We also use these service providers:
- Formspree (United States), which delivers messages from our contact form to our inbox.
- Google Fonts and Google Maps (Google LLC), which deliver the typefaces and the map on this website.
Because these providers are outside South Africa, using them transfers some information across borders. We use providers that are bound by data protection laws or agreements that give protection comparable to POPIA.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not lead to a matter are deleted within 12 months. Client files and accounting records are kept for as long as the law and the rules of the Legal Practice Council require, and then destroyed securely.
How we protect it
Access to client files is limited to the people working on your matter. We use password-protected systems, secure storage for paper files, and confidentiality undertakings from our staff and service providers.
Your rights
You may ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct or delete it, or to stop using it for a particular purpose. You may withdraw your consent at any time, although this does not affect anything we did lawfully before. To make a request, contact our information officer. We may need to confirm your identity first.
Some information cannot be deleted while we are legally required to keep it, or while it is protected by legal professional privilege.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, please contact our information officer first. You may also complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.
